From the Principal’s Desk
The term has flown by and soon the holidays will be upon us. Before that time of rest, we have a number of activities taking place.
Our Year 10 students go on their Journey next week and return on the day school closes. The High School camp takes place from 13 – 15 March. These two events offer our students a different learning experience.
The Primary and High School parent meetings will take place early next term. Foundation Phase parent meetings are to be held next week – please book your appointments in the front office.
We hope that the coffee yesterday morning left our parents feeling positive and energised for the day ahead. It was our little way of showing you some kindness because let’s face it – this world needs more kindness.
On a sad note, Mrs Martina Schöbel our French and German teacher has tended her resignation. She will be relocating back to Germany. We are currently busy with interviews to find a suitable candidate. We remain committed to ensure that our students are prepared for their exams.
Weekly Thought: Hero or Coward
“Great occasions do not make heroes or cowards; they simply unveil them to the eyes of men. Silently and imperceptibly, as we wake or sleep, we grow strong or weak; and at last some crisis shows what we have become.” – Brooke Foss Westcott
How often we all feel or think that heroes are birthed in a moment. “Cometh the moment – cometh the man.” – the saying goes. But if what Westcott say is true, the man is being prepared and being moulded, long before the moment arrives. In fact, our life and all the events that comprise it, since early childhood can be the preparation that will make us react in a specific way, in specific circumstances.
One cannot help but see the merit in such a view, although the concept might be a fresh one to digest at first.
Should we come to a place where we agree with Westcott, it will only be prudent (maybe just interesting for some) to ask: “With the actions I am taking daily in my life, as what am I being moulded?
For some of us the answer might be pleasant – go on encourage others to follow suit;
For others, we might not like what we learn – be encouraged, our life story is being written, and we can change what we want to become, we have the power of “Free Will” – it is never too late!!
Have a weekend of deep impact, people need and want to see the ‘real’ you…
Have a great weekend.
