From the Principal’s Desk – 27 July 2017
Dear ISH Community
Welcome back to the start of Term 3. It is hard to believe that we have surpassed the half-way mark of this year and more incredibly that this is the last teaching term for the Matric class of 2017! As our Year 12’s grab the very last offerings of assistance and knowledge from their teachers over the next 9 weeks, I feel sure that they will experience a myriad of emotions. The last lap round is always the most exhausting! As you see the finish line come into view, it is at this point that it seems so far away. Hold on, put your heads down and finish with pride Year 12’s!
So much growth and learning takes place during your schooling years. Each student goes through so many changes and stages of their lives – not all of which are academic. From learning your letter sounds and number bonds to making new friends as people and places change along the journey. Growing up is not easy, that’s for sure.
On the other hand, I know that the Year 12’s are excited to start the next chapter of their lives, be it university, gap years or the working world, and as such, they simply can’t wait for this year to end! Trust me, it will come soon enough.
While the Year 12’s start winding down to the end of their time at ISH, the Year 11’s are starting the next chapter in their schooling career, as they begin their AS/A Level courses. The gap between IGCSE and AS levels is a big one and it requires a sense of maturity and responsibility – I know that our Year 11’s will rise to the occasion and make us proud.
The Year 11’s are not the only students in our school who are starting a new chapter in their lives this term. ISH would like to extend a warm welcome some new students to our school this term; Tao Robinson (Year 1), Filipe Pareira Marcolino (Year 1), Althea Titus (Year 4) and Calebe Pereira Marcolino (Year 4). We trust that you will all be very happy here and that you will make lasting memories during your time with us.
